The contents of these guides are based on scientific data collected from MSF’s experience, the World Health Organization (WHO), other renowned international medical institutions and medical and scientific journals.
Change in expression of drug doses in MSF guides
The expression of drug doses has changed in the English, French and Spanish versions of Essential drugs and Clinical guidelines. These changes will likewise be progressively applied to other guides. For more information, see News.

Important notice: as of July 1st the expression of doses is gradually going to change in the guides Essential drugs and Clinical guidelines.....
Oral drug doses will be expressed in milligrams or grams per dose followed by the number of doses per day and no longer in total daily dose divided by the number of doses.
30 mg/kg/day in 3 divided doses → 10 mg/kg 3 times daily
1 g/day in 2 divided doses → 500 mg 2 times daily
Injectable drug doses will be expressed in dose per injection followed by the interval between injections and no longer in total daily dose divided by the number of injections.
30 mg/kg/day in 3 divided doses → 10 mg/kg every 8 hours
1 g/day in 2 divided doses → 500 mg every 12 hours
