This guide has been updated. This month's revision includes in particular: significant changes (5), new entries (0), deleted entries (1)

Significant changes
  • Oral drugs:
    • Amoxicillin: duration of treatment for uncomplicated enteric fevers extended (14 days instead of 7 days).
    • Cefixime: duration of treatment for uncomplicated enteric fevers extended (10 to 14 days instead of 7 days).
    • Ciprofloxacin: “Enteric fevers” indication removed (frequent resistances); duration of treatment in cutaneous anthrax extended, depending on the severity (7 to 14 days instead of 7 to 10 days); indication “Plague” added.

 

  • Injectable drugs:
    • Chloramphenicol: “Enteric fevers” indication removed.
    • Streptomycin: for plague, used only if gentamicin is not available.
